A company’s information governance approach is the foundation of its information management capability. Through identifying an accountability framework, the desired behaviors in the data management lifecycle are fortified. This framework drives the valuation, creation, storage, use, archival, and defensible destruction of information.

Our expertise in archiving and governance solutions helps companies minimize risk, reduce costs and utilize the untapped business value of their information. With data growing at unprecedented rates, Infobelt has harnessed the ability to communicate exactly what amongst this information glut is essential to the business. Leveraging our team of experts alongside the enterprise, we help companies keep pace with the complexity and volume of the changing landscape.

Advisory Services

Bringing you up to speed

Infobelt’s consulting services develop a company’s information management policy via proven strategy development processes and methods. Our approach focuses on answering the three most relevant questions related to developing a business strategy:

  • Who are we now?
  • Where do we want to be?
  • How do we get there?

In answering these three questions, we determine constraints, internal environment, and external factors that define the current setting of an organization’s information management infrastructure. From there we create a vision, strategize an actionable business market agenda, realize risk position, and weigh the economic factors to define the company’s goals and objectives.

By evaluating current issues in contrast with goals and objectives, we are able to leverage our expertise and work alongside enterprise development teams to form an information management strategy which may contain both Information Lifecycle Management and Big Data elements. Based on the defined strategy, we work to determine tactical initiatives and then implement any or all of the strategic elements.

Professional Services

Implementation Support

Infobelt develops services specific to an enterprise’s information strategy and business needs. We define the tools, processes, roles, controls, and metrics necessary to treat information as a valuable business asset and provide a road-map to implement them into the information management environment. Using our purpose-built database agnostic platform, we leverage our expertise to implement and integrate into the information management environment according to the defined strategy and tactical initiatives.

Once one or more Information Lifecycle Management products or services are implemented, Infobelt offers maintenance and optimization services to make the most of the investment and ensure everything continues to produce rapid and consistent business benefits.

Our ILM service offerings consist of:

Information governance and records management

Gartner defines information governance as the specification of decision rights and an accountability framework to ensure appropriate behavior in the valuation, creation, storage, use, archiving and deletion of information. Infobelt’s ILM services assist in creating the processes, roles and policies, standards and metrics that ensure the effect and efficient use of information in enabling an organization to achieve its goals.

Content analytics

Content analytics is the application of auto-classify to digital content, or records for understanding the data composition.

Companies produce or procure two basic types of content: structured and unstructured data. Structured data typically resides within one or many relational database systems. Unstructured data can be stored anywhere throughout a given company in the form of text-based documents such as e-mail, office documents, and web documents. It can also take the form of non-text-based content such as voice recordings, images, and video.

Infobelt’s content analytics practice uses software and techniques to provide visibility into the unstructured digital content that is created and stored in the enterprise data environment. Our practice develops and implements a capability within an organization to discover, analyze, classify and make decisions on this content. This capability is an essential component in the holistic information management strategy for managing the information lifecycle.

Data archiving

As data ages and moves through the information lifecycle, there comes a point in time that it becomes inactive in the sense that the data is no longer needed for real time transactional processing or is no longer useful for “on-line” analytics. There are likely company and/or regulatory requirements to preserve such data for a period of time once it becomes inactive.

In these circumstances, Infobelt develops and implements a capability within an organization to identify this inactive data and place it in an archive that can manage the data throughout the period of time that you are required to preserve it.

There are two archiving services in our suite: Infobelt Structured Archive Service and Infobelt Unstructured Archive Service.

Structured: This archive service provides the processes and facilities to identify and archive inactive structured data with long term preservation requirements that is managed in standard relational database systems throughout your company.

Unstructured: This archive service provides the processes and facilities to archive inactive unstructured data with long term preservation requirements which are discovered across your company outside of relational database systems. These data types can include text-based documents such as office documents and email, or non-text-based documents such as voice, video, and images. This service interacts with our content analytics service for the identification and classification of unstructured data in your organization.

These services integrate with your company’s information governance and records management framework to ensure the appropriate retention requirements are implemented.

This ensures that your data:

  • remains immutable (unable to be changed over time) during the retention period
  • can be accessed as needed for legal and compliance inquiries,
  • can be placed on legal or corporate “hold” to prevent deletion
  • can be defensibly destroyed once the retention period expires.

Data down-tier

There comes a point in time in the information lifecycle when an economic trade-off must be considered. This generally comes when active data ages, begins to become less active, or is used for historical purposes (e.g. for reporting or analytics)

Infobelt offers a service to tackle this trade-off and to help the enterprise make the right business decision around this data based on their overall information management strategy.

Our data Down-Tier service will identify and migrate less active and historical data from high performance storage solutions in your information environment to low cost storage tiers that meet your cost per performance needs.

In many businesses, there may often be a need to reproduce data or reports generated from data as it existed at a point in time. Infobelt helps you determine if you have these types of requirements within your information management strategy and implement solutions to meet those requirements.

Our snapshot service defines and implements the capabilities to capture and manage replicas of your data as it exists as a point in time such that you can reproduce the raw data or reporting from that information for company, legal, or regulatory purposes.

We determine what price per performance characteristics this solution calls for and integrate this data into the overall information lifecycle such that use, archival, and destruction of this data fits your overall business needs.

Test data management, data masking, and privacy

The need to provide testing for new applications or customer functionality brings with it some interesting decisions. First, what data will you use to perform testing? How will you ensure that the data is not misused in the testing process? How do you protect the data in a possibly less-secure testing environment? There are surely other questions to be answered and decisions to be made as well.

Infobelt’s Test Data Management / Masking / Privacy (TDM-MP) service helps you make these decisions and execute on them.

Using proven techniques, leading edge tools and processes, and cross-industry experience, our TDM-MP practice reconstructs production data to mask sensitive information and maintain data privacy while providing production class data from your organization to test important application and customer functionality.

These same techniques can be applied to data for the purposes of analytics, reporting and other data mining activities where sensitive information must be protected.
